About the artist

For as long as Jade can remember, she was always drawing.Based in New Orleans, her dream of becoming an artist originated from her love of animation and later, comics. She enjoyed the tactile quality of putting pencil to paper and the richness of paint.She has since traded her pencils for pens, using ink and wash to create her illustrations and comics after graduating from SCAD.Her work is free and expressive, an embodiment of Jade herself. It explores the messiness of being human, including childhood, mental health struggles and triumphs, and how we introverts navigate an extroverted world.Jade excels at drawing comedic and heartwarming stories which can be seen in her children’s illustrations, comics, and live portraits which she shares on her newsletter, Desk of Jade Johnson.Operating like a virtual open studio, readers get instant access to projects she is working on and the inner workings of her creative mind.On the weekends, Jade can be found shopping for new books and art supplies with a hazelnut latte in hand or having a lazy morning with her studio dog Ernie.Jade is currently looking for a literary agent.

Booking Policy

Portrait Services

Portrait services are offered and drawn live by Jade Johnson under Jade Johnson Illustration LLC. They are stylized versions of your guests and samples are provided on her website and booking page.Her portrait packages are offered in color or black and white with 2 or 4 hour time slots. Portraits are 5 x 7", drawn in ink and marker, and packaged in clear sleeves to protect against moisture and stains. Jade can draw an estimated 10 portraits per hour.This service is only provided to the Greater New Orleans area and not offered for personal events or residential locations at this time. Locations more than one hour from Harvey, Louisiana will require a travel fee.

Portrait Changes

Like you, Jade strives to have your guests leave happy! While they can get as many portraits drawn as they like, to be mindful of other guests and manage our time properly, she is unable to take detailed requests or any art direction while performing this service.

Lost or Damaged Portraits

Although Jade and her assistants are not responsible for lost or damaged portraits, with a bumping dance floor and drinks flowing, she understands that accidents happen.Guests are welcome to have their portrait redrawn during the service time. Services can also be extended for an additional $350 per hour, invoiced through the booking portal. This fee must be paid before services continue.

Usage Terms

Jade wants your guests to show off their portraits! Portraits are for personal use and can be used as profile pictures, shared on their social media feeds, or added to their home decor.It is important that our clients understand and communicate to guests that portraits cannot be edited, reprinted, resold, or used for AI or NFTs. Jade Johnson at Johnson Illustration LLC owns the copyright and usage of all portrait drawings.Violating these terms will result in a takedown notice or cease and desist and disputes will be handled through the Louisiana court system.

Sharing and Credit

Clients and guests can credit "Jade Johnson Illustration LLC jadejohnsonillo.com" and tag @jadejohnsonillo when sharing your portraits online. She loves to see them! Public posts may be shared on our website, newsletter, or social media.

Payment Methods

We appreciate your prompt payment to help the booking process and service go smoothly! All payments are made through our booking portal and must be paid in full before the service begins.Jade unfortunately cannot accept checks or cash and late payments are charged a 10% fee. Her services will appear as "SQ* JADE JOHNSON ILLUSTRATION LLC" on your billing statements.

Cancellations and Refunds

Jade understands that sometimes your plans change. If you need to postpone or no longer need our services, your booking can be rescheduled or canceled through the booking page. She can provide a full refund for bookings canceled at least 7 days before your event.Refunds may take 5-10 days to process and do not include platform and processing fees. If your venue has closed, there is inclement weather, or an impending natural disaster, services will be rescheduled for a later date. If Jade must cancel the service due to an emergency, a full refund will be provided.

Drawing Stations

Jade is always willing to work with your venue during events! Clients or their venue must provide a table and two chairs for the service. She encourages you to decorate them with tablecloths and chair covers that match your event colors.The service station must be placed away from:• DJ booths and speakers
• Dance floors
• Kitchens and buffets
• Restrooms
• Waste receptacles
• Direct sunlightAssistants may also be present to help Jade during the service. A 10 minute break is built into 2 hour time slots and 20 minute breaks into 4 hour slots.

Event Changes

If the details of your event changes, like the time or location, Jade must be updated through her contact page or [email protected] at least 48 hours before your event. While she understands plans change quickly, Jade is not responsible for delayed services in such cases..

Waivers

Jade cares deeply about the safety of your event. If guests or venue staff exhibit inappropriate or dangerous behavior, she will stop the service and remove herself and her assistants from the location. She is not responsible for services that were not completed due to safety concerns, nor can Jade provide a refund of any kind.

Damages and Expenses

Damages to Jade, her assistants, or her service equipment will be charged to the client and must be paid immediately through the booking portal. We appreciate your quick communication and cooperation in these rare cases.

Agreement Changes

Any changes to this agreement must be agreed by email before your service begins.
