Somehow we have found ourselves in June, already six months into the year! It’s hurricane season for us NOLA locals but for the rest of the world, it’s Pride Month! 🏳️🌈
Since the theme of this month is pride, here are 3 extremely mundane things I’m proud of:
Mundane things I’m proud of
I always joke that I’m “not drinking water this month” because I’m chronically dehydrated. It’s not a medical condition — I’m just bad at drinking enough water. I bought a nice water bottle recently and have been bringing it everywhere. It’s more of an emotional support water bottle at the moment but the month is young.
After months of carrying my art supplies in a toiletry bag, I bought a canvas bag in my favorite color — mustard yellow. It does exactly the same job as my old bag but it’s yellow, which automatically makes it better.
I also bought a rolling bag. Two, in fact! I’ve been using my college backpack to go back and forth to my grandma’s house and my spinal arthritis decided it was time for an upgrade. The wheel on the first bag snapped off immediately after unboxing it, but the second bag is working nicely. Rolly bags used to be so embarrassing, then you turn 32 and they’re all you can think about.
Give Crying in Public a listen while you read the rest of this newsletter if you like.
I spent the last week of May sketching. You might have seen some sketches on my stories. Challenging myself to draw figures was fun but also reminded me of the art I like to make the most — uncomplicated and not overly planned.
So I’m sticking to my sketchbook and MapCrunch landscapes for now, an easy way to show up in my art practice when I’m feeling low energy.
That’s all from me this week. So tell me:
What’s got you feeling proud this month?
Until next time,
Jade
