Let’s switch things up around here and talk about our spring favorites! While spring isn’t my favorite season, it’s way too hot here in New Orleans, it certainly has its perks.
My spring favorites
Tart frozen yogurt from Tutti Frutti. I’m not normally a frozen yogurt fan but their Very Berry Strawberry is tastebud shocking in the best way. (Nevermind that I’m lactose intolerant.)
I’m fascinated by artists who have creative processes that are so different from mine. One such artist is Ruth Speer. I’ve been rewatching her oil painting vlogs and just wow.
Most of March was spent testing the limits of how many beignets I could eat in one sitting. The answer is a dozen, easily! I mean, probably. It’s hard to count through a cloud of powdered sugar.
On the mornings I spend with my grandma, Ernie and I take a walk around her apartment complex. There are several flowering bushes that we stop by to enjoy their blooms. Ernie has other business on these walks but they’re a spring highlight for me.
Speaking of my grandma, her and my aunt’s 84th birthday is next month (They’re twins!) So naturally, I have cake on the brain. We get ours from a local bakery that makes the best almond and buttercream cakes. May can’t get here soon enough.
I’m going to a wedding this Sunday and by the time you read this, I’ll have swanned into the venue with a mimosa and the hottest pink dress you’ve ever seen! It’s bright and flowy and screams spring. Now I just need a mask to match. These masks by Yrurari would really make a statement, am I right?
This was a fun change from my usual newsletters. Maybe I’ll add monthly favorites like these to my newsletter rotation? We’ll see! In the meantime, let me know:
What are you looking forward to this spring?
Until next time,
Jade

I love Ruth Speer! I have that Howl’s Moving Castle print in my living room and was able to snag one of her Alice in Wonderland prints too! I have yet to find frames that are appropriately stately for them.
