It’s that time of the year, pals! The one where I watch Practical Magic, currently free with ads on YouTube, and wish that I too lived in a big white house on the seaside with my witchy aunt, Stockard Channing.
I would maybe rather not help my sister exorcise her demon ex-boyfriend but well, sacrifices must be made to live that quaint town life, you know?
When I’m not living vicariously through Sandra Bullock though, I’m getting into the ooky spooky mood with movies like these. There’s just something so cozy about warmly lit movies and well meaning witches.
It also helps that there’s finally a chill in the air with less than a week and a half until Halloween. Right after posting my fall check in on Instagram, the weather dropped to the mid 60-70’s. Not quite colder than a witch’s tit but we’re getting there!
Life has been busy, because when is it ever not, and I haven’t had much time to collage or even draw anything this month. Now that my grandma is out of the hospital — and has officially kicked cancer’s butt! — I can’t wait to spend more time at my desk. ☺️
One of the first things I did with my new free time was join
’s newsletter, ! I had been subscribed for a while but finally upgraded my subscription to be able to draw with everyone in the Zoom drawing sessions.In the meantime though, I cracked open a new Moleskine sketchbook and drew some owls while watching Beth and Katie Moody’s replay! Each owl was a two minute exercise, with a little more time spent on the owls in the bottom right corner for me.
They’re my favorites of the bunch, I think! As we get closer to Election Day though, I’m relating a lot to the owl in the lower left corner.
While I plan to draw from more replays this weekend, and paid pals can look forward to my recorded drawings, I also signed up for the 👻 80’s Halloween Drawing Party if anyone wants to try filling their sketchbook with me!
