I’m no art guru but I am an artist who thinks art is everywhere if you know where to look. So hey, I’m Jade Johnson, a New Orleans based artist turned newsletter writer making connections between art of the past and present and our daily lives.
While teaching in local art programs, I learned how art can connect ideas in our brains, experiences from the past, and connect us to each other. The light in my students’ eyes when they discovered an artist who liked to draw cats as much as they did, or who used their favorite color in all of their art too, never got old.
Although I hung up my teaching apron in 2021, there’s still so much art has to teach me and even more that we can learn together.
