Hey pals,
A week ago, I shared with you how I boost my creative confidence.
I told you how I sometimes feel frustrated and impatient when collaging and have to remind myself that there are choices I can make, decisions I’m in control of, to get unstuck.
So many of you resonated with this feeling because ironically, the reason we feel so stuck in the first place, is overwhelm.
We get overwhelmed by how many choices we have and need to narrow them down to feel confident enough to create anything. That’s where shrinking the problem comes in.
In the same way, working smaller can help you:
Choose a focal point in your next piece
Consider the image you’re working on as a whole
Not get stuck in “detail purgatory”
Limit your palette for better color harmony
You can also try new things with minimal risk to your creative self esteem, like live collaging and chatting with you pals without shaking like a chihuahua from nerves – just by using a smaller sketchbook.
How can you shrink a problem this week?
Until next time,
Jade
